Alison Newsome – Sports Masseuse

Qualifications BSc (Hons) Dance Science NLSSM (Dip) – Professional Diploma in Sports & Remedial Massage

Further Studies Pilates Foundation Matwork Teacher, Pre and Post Natal Pilates, Postural Assessment, Myofascial Release, Neuromuscular Technique

About me “I started off as a dancer, studying at Middlesex University for a degree in Dance Science. The course included structural fitness with knowledge and practice of Pilates and yoga among other focuses. We did this to understand how the body moved in dance, and how vital good posture and technique was for performance and injury prevention.

My interests developed as I wanted to help my colleagues with their injuries and I later enrolled at the North London School of Sports Massage where I received my professional diploma. Since then I have completed several other Continuing Professional Development courses.

I’ve been part of teams offering post event massage at the London Marathon, Tunbridge Wells Half Marathon and at the Mandy Ellen School of Dance.

After practicing massage for a few years I saw a lot of injuries caused by poor flexibility, muscular weakness and bad posture. I wanted to provide my clients with a form of exercise that would help correct this keeping them flexible, improving their posture and building their core strength to prevent and help their injuries even further. I now teach one to one Pilates at the Inline Health Ltd Clinic and weekly Pilates classes from beginner to advanced level.

I’m currently interested in dancing, Pole Fitness, Pilates, running, Crossfit and Yoga.

Natasha Aldridge – Physiotherapist

Natasha Aldridge – Physiotherapist

Qualifications BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy

Further studies Grade V Spinal Manipulation APPI – Pilates Matwork level 1 Foundation Acupuncture Course McKenzie Part A and B (Lumbar spine and Cervical Spine) Mobilisation of the Nervous System

About me "My two keen interests at school were sports and science. It therefore seemed only natural to combine the two and study physiotherapy at university. I graduated Southampton university in 2004 and soon went into the world of physiotherapy, where I realised my passion was for treating people with musculoskeletal problems in an outpatient environment; in other words, getting people up-and-running again as soon as possible. After cutting my teeth at Basildon hospital in Essex, I moved on to Ashford and then Maidstone hospitals, focusing and increasing my level of expertise along the way. Simultaneously I have worked with several sports people and teams, treating sports injuries. I have worked with Rugby and Football teams and treated all kinds of athletes, keeping my skills sharp and relevant.

I take a holistic approach to my work and do not believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to treatment. I have therefore furthered my studies since graduation by studying Pilates, Acupuncture and other courses, so I can offer my clients the appropriate treatment.

I am a keen netball player, swimmer, and practice pole fitness, all on a weekly basis. I also try to dive whenever I can, which is not often enough!”

Sally Vine - Sports and Remedial Massage Therapist

Qualifications NLSSM (Dip) - Level 5 BTEC Professional Diploma in Sports & Remedial Massage

Further studies Functional Movement Screening, Functional Movement Taping

About me "I have been keen on sports from a young age, in my late teens competing in javelin, discus and 100m around the country. Track and field gave way to the more social sports of squash and cycling once I started work, and now squash has given way to running, swimming and more recently triathlon.

At school Maths and sciences were my forte, and further education took me into the rapidly changing area at the time - computing. As a hobby, in 1990 I studied Holistic Massage gaining a Level 3 diploma. After spending many, many years specialising in computer networking and cryptography I took a career break, and in 2010 decided that I would combine my logical approach to problem solving with my massage qualification and studied Sports and Remedial Massage with The North London School of Sports Massage. I am a member of the SMA (Sports Massage Association) which, amongst other things, ensures that I keep my knowledge current.

I regularly help at charity events such as The London Marathon and The Prudential 100 cycle ride, providing post-event massage. In 2012 I worked at the Olympics, providing massage within the Media Centre to the world's media and their teams. This year I have been selected to work with the Commonwealth Divers and their teams at the Diving Village in Edinburgh for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.”

My clientele range in age from 6 to 80+; some are self-confessed couch-potatoes whilst others are GB athletes, but most being somewhere in-between. I work with people who require both long-term and regular treatment, as well as individuals who only need short-term specific attention due to injury/accidents or preparation/recovery from an event. I like to offer advice and guidance to my clients, encouraging self-management of muscular discomfort. Advanced techniques that I use include Soft Tissue Release, Muscle Energy Techniques, Myofascial Release, Positional Release and Trigger Point Therapy.
